Excellent gift!

This layered wooden puzzle is AWESOME! The layering is unique and fun and the pieces are nice quality wood that will last a long time. I was excited to give such a nice gift to my nephew.

Harder Than Advertised

Our little one has clearly moved pass the one-piece-one-hold puzzles. At the same time, he's not quite ready for ~15 piece puzzles from a major kids brand. This is described as appropriate for 1-3 yr olds so we thought it might offer a good transition. I'm skeptical that any 1 year old would make progress on this puzzle. Our recently 2-yr old sometimes puts pieces in the right place, but multiple layers means pieces from multiple vehicles... which is definitely harder.

We've also experienced a little curling of the wood of some of the pieces -- which matters more in a stacking puzzle. At 2, our little one really doesn't put much (besides food) in his mouth. These pieces must taste good because a wheel or two definitely ended up there. Perhaps that explains the slight curling on other pieces, perhaps not. At minimum, another reason they're probably not appropriate for a 1 yr old.

Curling aside, it's a really nice puzzle. Fun theme. I think our little one is close to making real progress on it, but it may fall in a bit of a limbo between 2nd and 3rd birthday. Probably ideal for a gift-giving holiday in the middle. Feels like it could be late by the 3rd birthday.
